Michael Conaway (R-TX), Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, issued the following statement regarding legislation introduced by Senator Hoeven (R-ND) and Senator Stabenow (D-MI) that ties repeal of country of origin labeling (COOL) to both the elimination of existing market driven programs and the establishment of a so-called voluntary country of origin (COOL) labeling program for beef, pork, and chicken. This new voluntary program would operate under similar rules as the program found to violate U.S. international trade rules.

WASHINGTON – In an interview with E & E TV, Ranking Member Frank Lucas reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing bipartisan legislation that would block the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.
During the interview, Lucas said this about the bipartisan effort to prevent further overreaching by the EPA:
"I think this resolution and disallowment will send a signal to the EPA and the White House, back off, calm down, apply sound science, follow the rule of law and let the legislative bodies move the agenda in this country, not the bureaucracy."
