The Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Subcommittee has postponed it's hearing on U.S. European Union trade scheduled for 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 16.

In a letter today to Rep. Richard Pombo (R-CA), Chairman of the Subcommittee, J. David Carlin, Assistant Secretary of Congressional Relations at USDA, wrote: "Due to the sensitive state of current negotiations with the European Union on veterinary equivalency issues and the fact that talks are expected to resume in Washington on Wednesday, April 16, the Department respectfully requests that the hearing on the status and prospect of trade between the United States and the European Union for livestock, dairy, and poultry products be postponed…."

"Although I have agreed to postpone this hearing, U.S.-European Union agricultural trade remains an important issue to me and to the Subcommittee. I am committed to improving trade in livestock, dairy, and poultry products between the U.S. and the EU, and will reschedule this important hearing in the near future," said Pombo.
