Washington, D.C. - Thursday afternoon, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, House Agriculture Committee Chairman K. Michael Conaway and Texas State Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller were in El Campo, Texas surveying damage from Hurricane Harvey and meeting with producers and farmers. As they were leaving an event with producers, a vehicle traveling with them was involved in a traffic accident with another vehicle. Secretary Perdue, Chairman Conaway and Commissioner Miller were riding in separate vehicles and were not involved in the accident. One USDA and two House Agriculture Committee staff members were taken to a local hospital and are in stable condition.
