Thompson Issues Statement on First Anniversary of USMCA

Washington, DC — Today, Republican Leader of the House Agriculture Committee, Glenn 'GT' Thompson, issued the following statement on the one year anniversary of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) entry into force:

"I have long said USMCA is a win for farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, and American workers. Since its entry into force one year ago, we have seen expanded access, increased exports, and a more level playing field for our producers. I am pleased Ambassador Tai is moving forward with enforcement action against Canada’s implementation of the agreement’s dairy tariff rate quotas, and urge close attention in the coming months to Canada’s handling of its USMCA Class 7 milk reforms and Mexico’s handling of multiple dairy issues. Our continued success in global markets is dependent on upholding USMCA, ensuring any future trade agreements work for rural America, and lastly, President Biden nominating an individual for the role of Chief Agricultural Negotiator."
