The Ag Minute: EPA Continues to Attack American Agriculture

Click here to listen to The Ag Minute. The transcript is below. "Once again the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is attacking American agriculture. "This time the agency is making it impossible for farmers to spray pesticides, which are essential for protecting crops from weeds, diseases, and insect damage. "The EPA is proposing to change label language relating to pesticide drift. The agency already acknowledges that some level of drift would always occur regardless of technology, yet it is proposing to mandate a zero-drift standard for pesticide labels. "If this change is implemented, farmers would not be able to meet the food demands of a growing population because it would have a negative economic impact on agricultural productivity. "The development and use of vital crop protection tools have led to the bounty we know as American agriculture. This latest proposal from the Obama administration is an overreaching and misguided regulatory approach that would threaten our farmers’ livelihoods and our overall food supply. The Ag Minute is Ranking Member Lucas' weekly radio address that is released each Tuesday from the House Agriculture Committee Republicans.
