Chairman Bob Goodlatte made the following statement regarding the departure of Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman from the Cabinet:

"On behalf of the Committee, I want to offer our thanks and best wishes to Secretary Veneman. She has ably served the farmers and ranchers of America as the Secretary of Agriculture for four years. During that period many changes have taken place for U.S. agriculture, including the 2002 Farm Bill, the Healthy Forests Initiative and several trade agreements with significant impact on U.S. agriculture.

I have personally enjoyed working with Secretary Veneman and I know that she will continue her contributions to the United States farm and food sector in whatever endeavor she chooses in the future."
