STATEMENT OF HOUSE AGRICULTUIRE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN BOB GOODLATTE REGARDING U.S.- RUSSIA AGREEMENT ON U.S. MEAT AND POULTRY ACCESS

“I am pleased with today’s development regarding access for U.S. meat and poultry into the Russian market. I represent the largest poultry producing district in the country, and Russia is America’s largest poultry market. Resolving this outstanding trade issue was imperative.

There remain sanitary and phytosanitary issues which are still being negotiated, and which will be critical to the successful outcome of any deal. True market access cannot be achieved unless non-tariff trade barriers are eliminated.”
