Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson issued the following statement recognizing National Hunger Awareness Day:

“Today, we recognize National Hunger Awareness Day and the efforts of food banks, faith-based organizations, charitable groups, corporations, government and individuals to combat hunger. Our nation’s farmers and ranchers produce the safest, most abundant food supply in the world, and the agriculture community is keenly aware of the important role we play in addressing hunger issues. As we continue to develop the 2007 Farm Bill, nutrition programs are an important consideration, and we will do everything we can to be sure that these programs receive the support they need.”
