2018 Farm Bill
In this week's #FarmBillFriday, Rep. James Comer (KY-1) zeros in on the top three areas of importance for his district as it relates to the Farm Bill, including crop insurance, research and development and investing in the future of agriculture.
"We have to invest in the future of agriculture. I want to inspire the next generation of farmers whether they be FFA or whether they be beginning farmers just getting started." When I think about the Farm Bill, there are three areas of the upmost importance for my congressional district and all of America for that matter. First of all is crop insurance. We have to have crop insurance. That’s what the most important part of the Farm Bill is. That helps our farm families and it helps our ag lenders. Next, we have to invest in research and development. All of our land grant universities, as well as universities like Murray State University, depend on money in the Farm Bill for research and development. And finally, is the future of agriculture. We have to invest in the future of agriculture. I want to inspire the next generation of farmers whether they be 4-H and FFA or whether they be beginning farmers just getting started. We have to invest in the future. I think a good quality Farm Bill will accomplish everything. CLICK above for full remarks. |
