2018 Farm Bill
In this week's #FarmBillFriday, Rep. Vicky Hartzler (MO-4), a lifelong farmer and former nutrition teacher, shares the importance of ensuring the Farm Bill benefits farmers, ranchers and consumers.
"As a mother and a former nutrition teacher – I also understand how important it is to make sure that our food supply stays safe and affordable." Rep. Hartzler said [in part]: So as we begin to work on the next Farm Bill, I want to make sure that we keep our priorities right as far as preserving our crop insurance so that our farmers have the risk protection they need, to make sure that every commodity is able to have that strong safety net including dairy and cotton, and to make sure that our rural communities have what they need in order to prosper – such as a strong extension service, research and development and to see if there is any way that we can help expand rural broadband. So I look forward to working with my colleagues in developing the best farm bill policy, and I invite your input. It’s important that we all at this important juncture make sure that we have a farm bill that is safe, that is strong and that is good for the American farmer, rancher and consumer.
