Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management held a public hearing examining how farm policy helps farmers in adverse conditions. After the hearing, Subcommittee Ranking Member Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-15) and Ranking Member K. Michael Conaway (TX-11) made the following remarks:
“Farmers are facing unprecedented struggles – from low commodity prices, to illegal retaliatory tariffs, to natural disasters. Times are tough in farm country. That’s why it is important that we do our best to continue providing meaningful tools to our farmers and ranchers to help them weather these hard times,” said Subcommittee Ranking Member Thompson. “We fought hard during the 2018 Farm Bill to improve the farm safety net. In the face of illegal retaliatory tariffs from China, President Trump has stepped in to provide additional assistance. We are closely monitoring the implementation of both of these vital tools,” said Ranking Member Conaway. |
