U.S. agriculture has a strong history of innovation to develop better and more efficient ways to feed Americans and the world. The committee has been supportive of this innovation in agriculture in many ways, including in the strong support of research and extension in the 2014 farm bill. Additional support not only of land-grant research universities, but also specific research efforts targeted at things such as specialty crops were included in that legislation and have been supported by the committee.
As new developments in agriculture progress, there is also a need for continued involvement by the committee. For example, the committee is engaged with stakeholders on issues surrounding data privacy, biotechnology, and additional areas of focus for improving agricultural efficiency. |
