Today, the House Agriculture Committee approved H.R. 470, the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest Land Adjustment Act; H.R. 5883, legislation to amend the Packers and Stockyards Act; and H.R. 845, the National Forest System Trails Stewardship Act.

“Thank you to my colleagues for advancing these three bipartisan bills.  These individual pieces of legislation help prioritize federal forest land ownership, ensure that our nation’s laws reflect technological changes in our livestock markets, and allow volunteers to help maintain Forest Service trails.”

H.R. 470, introduced by Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), would give the Secretary of Agriculture the authority to covey certain land in the Oconee and Chattahoochee National Forests for cash consideration through land exchange.

H.R. 5883, introduced by Rep. David Rouzer (R-NC), Chairman of the Livestock and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee, would amend the Packers and Stockyards Act to expand the definition of “marketing agency” and update acceptable payment methods to include electronic transfer of funds.

H.R. 845, introduced by Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), would utilize volunteers to improve forest service trail maintenance, while conserving limited Forest Service funds.
