In this week's #FarmBillFriday, Rep. Roger Marshall (KS-1) discusses the role a strong farm bill plays in maintaining a safe and affordable food supply for all Americans.


"Families across the country need the Farm Bill. We’re so fortunate to have the safest most affordable food source in the world."

Rep. Marshall said [in part]:

Every five years Congress writes a Farm Bill. There’s probably no single piece of legislation more important to Kansas than the Farm Bill is.

You know, first and foremost the Farm Bill protects the farmer, as well as the families. Families across the country need the Farm Bill. We’re so fortunate to have the safest most affordable food source in the world.

Part of the reason it is so affordable is that we’ve had crop insurance on the last Farm Bills, as well. So we think crop insurance is vital, it is the backbone of every Farm Bill, and allows the farmer to plant next year’s crop.
