#FARMBILLFRIDAY: Rep. Rodney Davis (IL-13)

In this week's #FarmBillFriday, Rep. Rodney Davis (IL-13) addresses the various ways the farm bill impacts rural America. From nutrition programs to rural broadband, the farm bill is critical in keeping rural communities thriving.

"As we look further into the 21st century, we’ve got to ensure that even our constituents in the very rural areas of our districts get access to broadband."

Rep. Davis said [in part]:
The farm bill is important because it not only addresses ag policy, but it also addresses our food and nutrition programs. We have many in rural America that are hungry. They don’t have access to the transportation that many in the urban areas do, and we need to make sure that those hungry kids get fed too.

As we look further into the 21st century, we’ve got to ensure that even our constituents in the very rural areas of our districts get access to broadband. Not just dial-up speeds, we’ve got to get fiber into their homes. And we’ve got to pinpoint your tax dollars, the tax dollars that are spent on rural broadband, to the areas that need them the most. That’s our goal and that’s what we’re going to work with this administration to do.
