#FARMBILLFRIDAY: Vice Chairman Glenn 'GT' Thompson (PA-5)

In this week's #FarmBillFriday, Vice Chairman Glenn 'GT' Thompson (PA-5) visits Schrack farm and presents the 2018 National Dairy Farmer Innovator of the Year award. Watch as he highlights the opportunities that innovation and research provide for farmers and ranchers.

"This is an 1100 head dairy farm and it is known for innovation and that’s what we know farming is today. It is science and technology."

Rep. Thompson said [in part]:
Hi, Congressman GT Thompson of Pennsylvania here on Farm Bill Friday. Here with two friends of mine, Jim Harbaugh and Kevin Schrack. We are at the Schrack Farm Resources. This farm has been—this is the 11th generation of farming. This farm started in 1773. Three years before the Declaration of Independence was written.

This is an 1100 head dairy farm and it is known for innovation and that’s what we know farming is today. It is science and technology. Here to congratulate both of these cattlemen and their families for being recognized as the 2018 National Dairy Farmer Innovator of the Year.

I had the opportunity to present both of these gentlemen with a copy of some of the remarks I made on the House floor just earlier this week recognizing their family and what their family has accomplished.

We are preparing for the farm bill and dairy’s a very important part of that. In Pennsylvania, agriculture is our number one industry and dairy is the largest commodity that we have. It hasn’t been without its problems and its challenges but I am proud of the things that we’re preparing to continue with on the farm bill. With the efforts and the work that they’ve done, we’re making a difference.
